Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri has won his third straight Portuguese title with Sporting, who defeated CD São Roque 3-0 in the second leg of the play-off final.

The Lisbon-based side, who also have another Nigerian, Bode Abiodun, on their payroll, had earlier won the first leg 3-1 in a match that took place in Funchal last week.

With this feat, Quadri, who joined the Leonina from GD Toledos in 2015, has won 18 titles since moving to Portugal in 2010.

This year’s title is the 35th title to be won by Sporting in the Portuguese Division One of Men’s National League.

In the first game, the pair formed by Quadri and Carvalho had no problems beating the duo of Nuno Henriques and Zhao Tianming 3-0.

Sporting’s João Monteiro returned to play against Zhao Tianming and after losing the first leg, Monteiro nearly faced same difficulties but the Portuguese international needed five sets to edge the Chinese star, while Quadri dispatched Tiago Li 3-0 to complete the rout.
