Rafael Nadal has proven superior by beaten Former world number one Novak Djokovic in the semi final of the Italian Open in Rome.
In their 51st meeting but first in more than a year, Nadal's court coverage proved too hot for Djokovic, just returning to form from a persistent right elbow injury.
In the women's class, top-ranked Simona Halep volleyed past three-time Rome champion Maria Sharapova 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 and will again face Elina Svitolina for the trophy.
Svitolina had beaten Anna Kontaveit 6-4, 6-3 in the other semifinal.
Svitolina had defeated Halep in Rome final in 2017.
