England’s Sophie Thornhill set a world record in the women's blind & vision impaired sprint qualifying at the first event of track cycling at the Anna Meares Velodrome on Thursday afternoon.
Australia’s Jessica Gallagher broke her own world record of 11.045 seconds when she raced just prior, completing the 200m distance in 10.954.
That world record was quickly eclipsed by Thornhill, in10.609.
Both will race for gold in the finals tonight.
