Nigerian hunter reportedly kills elephant in Ondo state, shares photos on social media

- A hunter in Ondo state reportedly felled a great beast in the forest 

- This hunter was seen in photos posing with an elephant he reportedly killed in Idanre

- However, the date at which this elephant was killed cannot be ascertained 

In an interesting bit of news, a hunter in Ondo state managed to do what very few have managed to do in this part of the world. According to various sources on social media, the hunter killed an elephant in a forest in Idanre, Ondo state. However, whether he killed the elephant singlehandedly or if he had help cannot be confirmed by NAIJ.com. The hunter is seen posing by the elephant with a rifle and comments under the post on Facebook revealed the elephant destroys crops in the state and the hunter who felled the beast is named Ajaja.

The death of this animal makes one wonder if there are other elephants in the Nigerian vast forests that are yet to be discovered. Veteran comedian Ali Baba has also reacted to the story saying the elephant is worth more to the hunter alive than dead. 

Congratulations. You killed the elephant. The meat will last 6 months. Or if you sell it you will make lets say about 200k... hmmm. Then someone will say his agency protects the endangered species in Nigeria. They think it's just about placing adverts to justify their annual allocation. If we had functional reserves, would we not have more value for this elephant? There are full grown adults of 40 years plus, that have never set their eyes on a real elephant, or even touched one. But hey... You can not blame the man. If he knew how much that elephant would have fetched him ALIVE... He would not have killed it. And see the spectators... all wishing it was their luck.
