BUCHAREST TO HOST FIBA 3x3 EUROPE CUP 2018

The fourth FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup will be staged in Bucharest, Romania on September 14-16, 2018.

The Romanian capital will host the most important 3x3 national team competition in Europe for a record third time in four editions, cementing its legacy as one of the capitals of 3x3.

Romania shined in previous editions: men won gold in 2014 while women struck silver in 2016.

The event will be hosted by the Romanian Basketball Federation and organized by Sport Arena Streetball.

The exact venue will be announced at a later date.

Fifty-nine teams (men and women combined) from 33 countries have registered to earn their ticket to the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup, a significant growth compared to last year’s edition.

In 2017, 46 teams from 26 countries participated.

These teams will compete in one of the three qualifiers held in Escaldes-Engordany (Andorra) on June 23-24, Poitiers (France) on June 29-30 and Constanta (Romania) on June 30 – July 1.

Twelve men's teams and 12 women's teams will compete in Bucharest on September 14-16.

Russia’s women and Latvia’s men are the reigning European champions following their heroics in Amsterdam, Netherlands on July 7-9, 2017.
Exciting, urban and innovative, 3x3 is inspired by several forms of streetball played worldwide and is considered the world’s number one urban team sport. Steered by FIBA, games see two teams of three players face off on a basketball half-court.

It was played successfully for the first time in international competition at the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and since then has benefited from the launch of a yearly city-based FIBA 3x3 World Tour
and national-team FIBA 3x3 World & Continental Cups. On 9 June 2017, 3x3 was added to the Olympic Program, starting from the Tokyo 2020 Games.
