His transfer toppled the £56million which Arsenal fc England paid for the services of  Borussia Dortmund striker and former CAF please African footballer of the year Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon last January.
 Bakambu’s deal was signed, sealed and delivered, after his new club paid a top of the bill tax to the Chinese authorities.
The Chinese football Rules state that clubs must pay 100% tax on new signings, but Beijing Guoan managed to negotiate a discount which saved them £5m.
They had argued that meeting Bakambu’s release clause technically made him a free agent and therefore asked for tax waiver which was denied the club.
Striker  Bakambu found the back of the net 46 times in 101 appearances for Villarreal. He was LaLiga Player of the Month for October in  2017.
