Lopetegui unveiled in 2016.
Spain have sacked it's Manager Julen Lopetegui appointed in 2016.
He was booted after being named the new Real Madrid boss - two days before their opening World Cup match against Portugal.
Real Madrid announced on Tuesday that Lopetegui would succeed Zinedine Zidane at the Bernabeu on a three-year deal.
The Spanish football federation (RFEF) said it dismissed the 51-year-old because the negotiation occurred without it's approval.
Spain has therefore appointed Fernando Hierro as his replacement to take charge.
Hierro had previously managed Real Oviedo. He also worked under Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
The former defender had 89 caps for Spain over 13 years. During this spell, he netted 31 goals and took part in four World Cups and two European championships.
He was appointed sporting director of Spain back in 2007, retaining the role until 2011. This coincided with the most succesful period in the country's history, as they won the South Africa World Cup, followed by a European championship.
Hierro's first task as new Manager is against Portugal in Group B at Russia 2018.
