Russia 2018: Super Eagles Melt Iceland.

At last the compact, tactical discipline and the Nigeria's Super Eagles ability to turn defence into purposeful attack have produced  Boiled water which on Friday evening Melt the Men from the Iceland.

In their first ever top class competitive football the super eagles halted the advance of Iceland at the 2018 FIFA world cup Russia by 2 goals to nil.

The traditional wingplay from the defence down the right flank found sprinting Moses  who wasted no time with his multipurpose cross controlled by the man of the match Ahmed Musa who blasted to the roof of the Iceland's net for the opener.

This was after a goalless first half.

The 2nd goal a clincher was an individual brilliance again by Ahmed Musa who outpaced his marker before he dribbled past three opponents including the Iceland goalkeeper before tapping into the net.

Ahmed Musa who ply his football trade with the CSKA Moscow, the man who scored Nigeria’s previous two goals at the FIFA World Cup finals (against Argentina in Brazil in 2014), hit a brace and also hit the upright as the Super Eagles brought their Russia 2018 World Cup campaign back on track.

Musa hit Argentina on the counter twice in Porto Alegre on June 25, 2014, though Nigeria lost 2-3 to the eventual finalists. Those were Nigeria’s last goals at the FIFA World Cup before Friday

This match may have cost Captain an injured wrist if not fractured an a clash with an iced defender.

Iceland, quarter finalists at the Euro 2016, were buoyed by their draw with Argentina, and took the fight to Nigeria for most of the first period, during which the Eagles kept the ball in midfield and failed to launch meaningful onslaughts. Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho had to be on the alert to make some important saves

Nigeria now placed 2nd in group D with 3points behind already qualified Croatia With 6pts.

The super eagles now await two times world champions Argentina last in the group with one point in a decider to see who'll qualify for the round of sixteen on June 26.
